The American Society of Mechanical Engineers, also known as ASME, was founded in 1880. It promotes art, science and mechanical engineering and allied science practices. The society has a membership with more than 120,000 professional organizations. ASME offers a range of technical, educational and research solutions. It provides codes and standards to industries that deal in pressure technology, nuclear and petroleum power, pharmaceuticals, water management and biotechnology. The society also administers the Global Management for Engineering and Technology, training program that offers learning solutions in various engineering and technology management issues, including design, production, marketing and project financing.
