Amarillo Independent School District provides educational opportunities to students in grades kindergarten through 12. It governs various elementary, middle, senior high, alternative and specialty high schools that include Woodlands Elementary, South Lawn Elementary, Travis Middle School, Fannin Middle School, Carver Elementary Academy and Palo Duro High School. It was designated as a Blue Ribbon school district by the Expansion Management magazine in its 14th annual Education Quotient issue. Located in Amarillo, Texas, its center for advanced learning offers courses in specialized areas that include engineering, medical science, computer systems technology and animal science. Amarillo Independent School District also provides special education to students with special needs. It also provides financial assistance through scholarships, grants and employment.
