Located in Baltimore, Medical Biotechnology Center has been operational for more than 25 years. A part of University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute, it is one of the leading research centers in the United States. The center includes faculty research laboratories, wet laboratory facilities for biomedical companies and an animal core facility. It also houses the National Center for Fluorescence Spectroscopy of the University of Maryland School of Medicine. The center offers research programs in several areas, such as biology and medicine and basic and applied biotechnology. It also offers biochemical, molecular and cellular technologies for various human disease mechanisms. Additionally, MBC provides solutions for Alzheimers disease, prion diseases, cardiac arrhythmias and failure, dysfunctions in molecular signaling and protein processing and cellular development abnormalities.
