The Slingerland Institute For Literacy is a company that trains teachers how to teach dyslexic children. It works on a contracted basis with school districts all over the country in an effort to really make teachers understand how to help dyslexic children learn in the way that is best for them. Slingerland focuses primarily on reading, writing and multifunctional skills that work best for dyslexic kids.
Learning Rx, aka the Ankeny Brain Training Center, is a part of a national chain of treatment centers for childhood ADD/ADHD. Featuring one-on-one training with educational and therapeutic professionals, Learning Rx seeks to improve the concentration, cognitive skills, memory and study habits of students suffering from ADD. Learning Rx also has programs for people suffering from traumatic brain injury and senior adults with memory and cognition issues.
Learning Rx is located in the First National Bank building on the second floor.
The State Theater located on Northampton Street in Easton showcases quality performances in theater, music and stand-up comedy. Box, balcony and orchestra seating is available. The State also hosts many high school theater productions and holds an awards program for high school drama.
