I chose to go into medicine after an emergency spinal surgery I had to have as an adolescent. I love to help patients improve their quality of life and relationships by addressing their health concerns.

I think its critical to teach our patients the anatomy and mechanisms behind their condition, why theyre having the symptoms theyre having and what to predict. Its so important in helping them navigate their lives.

I am most passionate about neuromuscular disorders because its an area of neurology where there are a lot of developments on the horizon so we can continue to help people improve their quality of life. One of the most gratifying things about practicing medicine is when you see a patient finally understand whats happening to them and why they have their symptoms. Information is power in helping them determine next steps.

My approach to medicine is very extensive. I do not deal with only one aspect of a disease because most of the movement disorders we treat are very multi-faceted. At Mercy, we have developed a comprehensive multidisciplinary program which serves as a one-stop shop for care for all aspects of movement disorders. This first of a kind center for Oklahoma will provide patients and referring physicians access to advanced care.

I was drawn to medicine because of the meaningful relationships I develop with patients and families, especially during their greatest time of need. Many neurological illnesses can be very complex and overwhelming, requiring a very involved clinician who is committed to caring for the patient as a whole. In my practice, I focus on not only the diagnosis and treatment but also the quality of my patients life. I hope to ease their concerns and provide them with the knowledge they need to make their own health care decisions. I want each of my patients to know I truly care for them and that I am here to listen.
