Anoka County Community Action Program, also known as ACCAP, is an independent nonprofit agency that began in 1965 under the Economic Opportunity Act. A volunteer governing board directs the activities of ACCAP and comprises representatives of the public and private sectors and the low-income community. The organization offers educational opportunities through programs such as Head Start and Home Ownership Workshops. It provides information and referral services to Anoka County residents through programs such as Child Care Resource & Referral and the Senior Information Line. ACCAP also offers direct services and subsidies to residents, including affordable housing, the Energy Assistance Program, the Child Care Assistance Program and the Weatherization Program. ACCAP serves residents of Anoka County, Minn., as well as Head Start families living in Washington County, Minn.

Hennepin County Human Resources serves the public and more than 8,500 employees in over 20 county departments. Its administration division specializes in the planning, development, coordination and implementation of policies, procedures, goals and objectives of the department. The department has a benefit division that develops, implements and administers benefit programs, including group insurance, long-term care plans, health care assistance and vocational donation to meet the needs of employees and families. Hennepin County Human Resources also includes an organization development division that provides surveys and leadership coaching, conflict mediation, change management, team building, service quality and measurement services.  Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts has an art gallery featuring local, metro and state-wide artists, a gift shop selling locally based works, art and writing classes for all ages, special events, writing groups and and more. The Banfill-Locke Center is nonprofit and visits to the gallery as well as most events are free, but certain groups require membership. Come and enjoy the art as well as the surrounding Manomin County Park, which is full of flowers in spring and summer. A full listing of events  and classes is available on the Web site and also on the center's Facebook page.
