Founded in 1964, the Roman L. Hruska U.S. Meat Animal Research Center specializes in the development of new technologies to increase the efficiency of livestock production. It maintains a more than 30,000-acre facility in Nebraska. The center operates animal health, reproduction, environmental management, genetics and breeding, and meat safety and quality research units. The Roman L. Hruska U.S. Meat Animal Research Center also has a nutrition research unit that works to improve the efficiency of utilization of feed resources for the production of edible products and minimize environmental impact of beef cattle, sheep and swine. It offers various publications for research projects in many formats. The center is administered by the Agricultural Research Service within the United States Department of Agriculture.
