Part of the North American Baptist Conference, Ridgewood Baptist Church offers worship services at 10 a.m. Sundays, followed by fellowship. Ridgewood Baptist has diverse youth programming for children from ages 3 through high school, including Thursday evening events for teens and a basketball program for kids in kindergarten through sixth grade. On Thursdays, it offers a 2:15-4 p.m. after-school teen center for early release days for Elmbrook School District students. Ridgewood also is a group for active seniors called 55 Alive.
Brookfield Christian Reformed Church unveiled a major expansion project in 2007 that added an 800-seat worship space and other facilities. About 450 people attend its Sunday services at 9:30am and 6 pm. Brookfield Christian Reformed Church is part of the Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRC) which includes nearly 1,000 Protestant churches in the US and Canada.
St. John's Lutheran Church is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. It posts podcasts of it sermons on it web site and has active adult and youth ministries. It also keeps its members updated on its facebook and twitter pages.
Elmbrook Humane Society (EBHS) cares for more than 2,500 animals a year in its Brookfield shelter that was built in 2004. With staff and some 200 volunteers, the shelter offers a wide variety of animals for adoption.
EBHS contracts to provide animal rescue and other services for the City of Brookfield, Villages of Butler, Chenequa, Elm Grove, Nashotah and the Towns of Brookfield and Delafield. The agency also offers educational programs with area schools on responsible pet ownership and animal care.
Immanuel Baptist Church is tucked away in a residential neighborhood north of Capitol Drive. It offers weekend worship services, as well as weekday Bible studies, recovery programs and Saturday morning street missions. Immanuel has helped the city by offering its facilities as an official polling site for elections.
With roots as deep as 1842 and officially organized in 1962, the Unitarian Universalist Church West describes itself as a "liberal religion growing out of the Judaic and Christian traditions." Sunday masses are held at 9:15am and 11am from Labor Day through Memorial Day, with one mass at 9:15am in the summer.
Peace United Methodist welcomes church members to a "vibrant congregation where worship is informal and unpretentious. It's a place where you can wear jeans and sit in the front row, or wear a suit and sit in the last row - in other words a place you can be yourself."
Services are Sundays at 8:45am and 11am, with Sunday School for all ages at 9:45am. There are handbell and vocal choirs.
Several weekly Alcoholics and Gamblers Anonymous meetings are available.
Peace United actually has two sites. In 2008 two Brookfield churches merged to become the renamed Peace United: the former Trinity Pilgrim United Methodist at 12860 W. North Ave. and Brookfield First United Methodist at 2400 N. Brookfield Rd.
One of the city's 15 neighborhood parks, Kinsey Park is a wooded area in the city's southeastern section. Its amenities include a playground, picnic tables, a pond and nature trails connecting to the city's Greenway Trail System. There is a parking lot for visitors' access.
Immanuel Lutheran Church is a religious institution offering worship services, educational programs and child care services to patrons in the community. The church provides child care during the week, from 6:30am to 6pm year-round, to children from the ages of 6 weeks to 12 years. The school offers a wide-ranging curriculum including the studying of God, computer work, Spanish language, physical education, music and more. Founded in 1957, Calvary Lutheran Church has grown from 34 families to about 1,000 members. It remains in its original site near Calhoun and Gebhardt roads, although its land has expanded and a major addition was built in 1996.
Calvary's Saturday evening and early Sunday services are more traditional with pipe organ hymns, while the later Sunday service is more contemporary including rock and bluegrass music. In summer the 10am service is held outdoors.
Wednesday evenings there are study groups and choir and handbell ringer practices.
Christ The Lord Lutheran Church is a member of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. Located at the southeast corner of the intersection of Brookfield and Gebhardt roads, the church has worship services on Sunday mornings and Monday evenings.
The adjacent Christ the Lord Lutheran School is open to students in preschool through eighth grade.
North Avenue Baptist Church has one Sunday morning worship service. In the fall of 2010, the city approved a church plan to build an approximate 2,265 sq. ft. addition for new spaces at the church, including a pastor’s office, Sunday school classrooms, and a nursery.
The Sikh Religious Society of Wisconsin is dedicated to promoting the exercise of Sikh religious principles. The society aims to foster "goodwill, understanding and a devotion to the principles and ideals of Sikhism," according to its web site. The morning prayer begins at 9am Sundays.
