Peninsula Seniors is a non-profit that develops and implements programs for senior citizens in Rancho Palos Verdes. Its services include fitness classes and historical trips.
Love On 4 Paws offers animal assisted therapy services for handicapped individuals. It is volunteer run and provides service at local hospitals and schools.
Peninsula Day Camp and Swim School is open to children ages four through 8th grade. The camp is divided into six different programs according to age and area of interest. Each group has a maximum of 14 children. Campers can choose the length of time to participate in a program, from one week to up to nine weeks for the traditional day camp.
Camps are held at Miraleste Intermediate School, which has an Olympic size swimming pool, tennis courts, indoor gym and outdoor volleyball and basketball courts.
The camp is accredited by the American Camp Association and the Western Association of Independent Camps. Transportation is available for an additional fee.
This church is in a convenient location right off of Western Avenue on West Summerland Street. Services are held on Sunday at 10:30am. Bible study is held on Tuesday evenings at 7 pm. A weekly prayer meeting is on Thursday from 5 pm to 6 pm. There is a Spanish language meeting at 3 pm. Please call the church for information on this. The church has 50 to 60 members.
Palos Verdes Art Center is non-profit community arts organization. It is involved with local schools and pre-schools and organizes tours of exhibitions, visiting speakers and gives scholarships. Visual art classes, drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, printmaking, digital arts, art history and much more is taught here, and everybody from ages 3 to 103, and of all skill levels, are welcome. Small classes are taught by artists and art educators. Private and semi-private lessons can also be arranged. Terms begin in January, April, July and September.
Palos Verdes On The Net is a non-profit organization that offers computer and technology courses for the community. Programs include web design, senior educational programs and youth programs.
St. Paul's Lutheran Church offers 11:00am Sunday services and 9:30am junior church services. The church offers a range of ministries and activities for adults and children.
Fred Hesse Jr. Park is one of the city's largest. The upper park has baseball and soccer fields, barbecue grills and picnic tables, playgrounds for toddlers and children, a walking trail and community buildings that can be rented for parties and meetings. The lower park, recently developed, has a sand volleyball court, picnic tables, walking parks, and great views of the ocean, Catalina and Santa Monica Bay.
