Blue Ridge Community College was established as Henderson County Technical Institute in 1969. The first full-time curriculum classes in the school began in 1970. Blue Ridge Community College is one of the 59 institutions that operate under the North Carolina State Board of Community Colleges. Blue Ridge Community College occupies facilities on a 140-acre campus. A 10-building complex provides more than 300,000-square-feet of floor space, divided into shop and laboratory spaces, classrooms, library, learning center, office and reception spaces and student lounge area. The David W. Sink, Jr. building in the school houses allied health programs, the cosmetology program, early childhood associate program and its accompanying child development center. The south wing of the building contains a 405-seat auditorium. Blue Ridge Community College is located in Flat Rock, N.C.

Founded in 1853, Brevard College is a four-year private, coeducational, liberal arts college and is affiliated with the Western North Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church. It has an enrollment of more than 500 students and employs over 50 full-time faculties. Its campus is spread over an area of more than 100 acres and is located in North Carolina. It offers bachelor s degrees in arts, music and science. It also offers majors in art, ecology, English, environmental science, history, mathematics, psychology, religious studies, theater and wilderness leadership. Its special programs include honors in societies, dual enrollment, internships, teacher licensure, experiential studies and an academic enrichment center. The college facility consists of a library, student s lab and residence halls, which are connected to the technology campus fiber-optic network.
