Edgecombe Community College, established in 1968, is a multicampus institution with campuses in Tarboro and Rocky Mount, N.C. The college is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award students with associate s degrees in arts, science and applied science. It offers academic programs in various subjects, including business administration, biotechnology, cosmetology, health information technology, medical transcription, surgical technology and respiratory therapy. Its library has a collection of more than 30,000 books, magazines and periodicals, as well as operates electronic databases. The college offers occupational extension classes in nursing assistance, police and fire training, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, welding, notary public and food service training. Edgecombe Community College also offers financial aid and scholarships to eligible students. It conducts distance learning programs in different formats, including video instruction, Internet-based instruction, two-way video instruction, and a mix of online and traditional classroom instruction.
