Set up in a large office building off Pearl, Impact offers a very unique set of classes. Its extremely realistic self-defense courses simulate the threats, intimidation and violence encountered during an assault. Classes are taught by a two-man team, one taking the role of instructor, the other donning a full-body suit of armor and taking the role of perpetrator. Students defend themselves with full contact. Classes are offered for men and women and a special course is offered for assault survivors. Impact also provides community courses and workplace classes, and works with local homeless shelters.
