Founded in 1999, Horizon Academy is an educational institution that provides learning opportunities for students struggling with learning difficulties. It offers academic instructions to more than 70 students in various subjects, including word decoding, oral and written language comprehension, math and physical education skills. The school also teaches social and organizational skills and handwriting abilities. In addition, Horizon Academy provides occupational and speech therapies. It also conducts a variety of summer programs, as well as organizes classes in physical education, art, music and technology. The school additionally provides counseling services. Horizon Academy is accredited by the Kansas State Board of Education, North Central Association and Independent Schools Association of the Central States. It has a staff of teachers, speech pathologists, counselors and reading instructors. Horizon Academy is located in Roeland Park, Kan.
