Good Shepherd Catholic School is an elementary and junior high school that serves students in kindergarten through grade eight. Founded in 1963, it is a joint venture of three Catholic parishes, including Saint Josephs in Capitola, Resurrection in Aptos and Star of the Sea in Santa Cruz, Calif. The school has an enrollment of more than 240 students. Good Shepherd Catholic School has over 10 classrooms, a science laboratory, computer center, library and extended care room. SACNAS Responds to Arizona Immigration Law In a formal letter to the governor of Arizona, SACNAS has announced that it will no longer consider hosting its conferences in the state, due to the anticipated harassment of attendees as a result of the immigration law SB1070. Phoenix had been on the short-list for the site of the 2012 conference. An unprecedented number of student research presenters have submitted abstracts for this years national conference. SACNAS is in need of nearly 200 individuals to support the student poster & oral research presentation program. Professionals: SACNAS kindly requests a bit of your time at the meeting to serve as a volunteer student presentation mentor-judge. Eligibility: Doctoral-level scientists ( postdocs, faculty, program directors, researchers... ) Details: Judges review approximately 10 15 student posters over two-days and/or approximately 4 5 graduate oral presentations. Holy Cross School is part of the Holy Cross Parish. The school was founded in 1862, originally as an orphanage. Its mission changed gradually, and it began to serve the needy children of Santa Cruz as well as become a girls school for Santa Cruz's Catholic families. The high school portion of the school was discontinued in the 1970s, and today the school serves children in preschool through eighth grade. The school focuses heavily on community involvement and international service, and it organizes several projects for students to participate in, including raising funds to build schools in Afghanistan and growing food to donate to local soup kitchens.

Spring Hill is an independent school for children in Kindergarten through eighth grade. The school, which requires an entrance exam, works with bright, motivated students who are excited about learning. Starting in Kindergarten, students learn Spanish. Latin and French are introduced to students in later grades. The academically rigorous education believes students work at different paces and works to allow the natural creativity and spirit of the student grow at its own pace.
