The Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Department - Woodlawn Station No. 24 is located just off of Richmond Highway. This station serves the greater Mount Vernon community.
The Leesburg Executive Airport is a public-use airport at Godfrey Field that is owned by the Town of Leesburg. The airport is used for general flights and offers comprehensive services to its customers, including re-fueling, hangar parking, de-icing, flight planning, use of a conference room and a shop, lounge and showers for pilots. The airport also houses flight schools that are open to the public.
The United States Arctic Research Commission was established in 1984 to construct a federal program for scientific research with respect to the Arctic in areas of natural resources, biological and health sciences and social and behavior sciences. Policy recommendations from this research are then made to the Congress and President. The research commission also works with the governor of Alaska to support Arctic research policy.
