The Port Chester Volunteer Fire Department began in 1823 as volunteer fire companies. Today, the dedicated men and women of the department continue to work to protect residents of the Village of Port Chester and the neighboring community, the Village of Rye Brook.

The members of the Port Chester Volunteer Fire Department are united by their professionalism, dedication, integrity and training. It is the department's every day mission to preserve life and property, and promote public safety.

Crawford Park covers more than 35 acres between North Ridge St. and Lincoln Ave. in Rye Brook. The site includes gardens, lawns, woods, a walking/jogging path, playing fields and an historic mansion – making it a unique resource for Port Chester, Rye Brook and surrounding communities.

The Anthony J. Posillipo Community Center supports a transportation program for the senior residents of the Village. A 20 passenger handicapped-accessible bus picks-up at the center  for local errands, grocery shopping and medical appointments.

Door-to-door transportation is available to and from the Anthony J. Posillipo Community Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Early pickup is at 9 am and participants arrive at AJP by approximately 9:30 am. The early ride gets Villagers there in time for part of the exercise class, craft class and other early morning activities. The bus makes a second trip at 10 am, which arrives at the center around 10:30 am. Departure for home is at 2 pm.  The fee for this service is $.50 each way.

Grocery shopping service is available on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 10:30 am. The bus picks up passengers at home or at the center and travels to either the A&P or Pathmark store in Port Chester. The fee for this service is $.50 each way.

Most Wednesdays, the Rye Brook Seniors use the bus to go on a special outing. The day is reserved for a trip to Arthur Avenue in the Bronx, a ride to the movie theater, a trip to one of the various malls in the area, an outing to a museum either in NYC or surrounding communities or some other excursion. The time of departure varies, as does the fee charged. All trips are limited to 20 people.

The Rye Town Clerk is located at 10 Pearl St. in Port Chester. The office handles marriage, hunting and fishing licenses. The Tax Office and Office of the Assessor, Mitchell Markowitz, are also housed at this Pearl Street location.

Port Chester Village Hall is home to the mayor's office, village clerk, assessor, manager and a range of other departments that meet the needs of residents.

Village hall is located on Grace Church Street, on the outskirts of the nearby downtown area. The exterior is red brick, with a sweeping crescent driveway and outdoor art installations.

The building also houses offices for recreation, finance and code enforcement, and serves as a meeting place for the board of trustees, zoning board and planning commission.

The Port Chester Building Department is where local residents go when planning to make an alteration to an existing building or construct a new one. The department helps people win approval for a permit by reviewing a proposal and making sure the plans conform to government regulations.  

Frank Ruccolo is the Acting Building Inspector. He will sit down with homeowners to review plans by appointment.
