Brawner Hall is where many of Smyrna's city officials' offices can be found. It handles building permits, code enforcement, community development, economic development, information services, and planning and zoning. This is also the office of Keep Smyrna Beautiful, a nonprofit organization focused on local environmental issues.
Brawner Hall opened as a mental health hospital in 1910 and stood vacant until 2009.
The Cherokee County Public Safety Building is the right half of the Public Safety/Adult Detention Center building. The Public Safety center includes the sheriff's office, the fire department, the local office for homeland security, and the fire marshal's office.
Macedonia Elementary School is home to the Wildcats and has students from kindergarten through fifth grade. It also has an Academic Bowl team, a chorus, a Science Olympiad team and a reading bowl team.
Bessie Branham Park is located in Atlanta's Kirkwood neighborhood. The park and recreation center offers several different activities including basketball, weight training, a computer lab, ceramics classes and activities for seniors.
This multi-use park and amphitheater is the emotional and cultural center of Suwanee. It is located at Buford Highway and Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road, across from City Hall. Regular events include a farmer's market, and occasional events include Suwanee Day, concerts and performing arts.
Also, the annual Taste of Suwanee has featured many area merchants.
Formerly the First Baptist Church of Canton, this historic building houses the offices of the Mayor Gene Hobgood, City Manager Scott Wood, City Clerk Coty Ervin and other administrators.
The Canton City Council meets at 6pm every first and third Thursday of the month. City offices are closed on New Year's Day, Martin Luther King's birthday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas.
This county office, which is coordinated by Linda Birt, administers the county building ordinance, the occupational tax ordinance, sign ordinance and building codes adopted by both the county and state. This department also oversees the issuance of various permits, including electrical and HVAC and business licenses.
The Buford Community Center, Town Park & Theatre is a multi-venue public use facility. It boasts the Sylvia Beard Theatre, a ballroom, multi-purpose rooms, a nine acre park with an amphitheatre, interactive water fountain and picnic areas. The space is available for a variety of uses including weddings, meetings, receptions, performances, film screenings and more. The staff is equipped to assist in events and provide ticketing, AV equipment, concessions, ushers and catering.
