NWA Childrens Shelter is an emergency childrens shelter for girls to age 17 and boys to age 12. We have an on-site school and on-site counseling with a residential shelter that is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Children who have been abandoned, abused or neglected may stay with us for up to 45 days in a six-month period, before being placed in foster care or returned to their families.

Established in 1985, the Artemis Center For Alternatives To Domestic Violence provides early intervention, supportive services and education for the victims of domestic violence and their children. In partnership with the Volunteer Lawyers Project, the center provides legal services to victims of civil domestic violence and handles matters related to temporary protection orders and related relief. It offers information to victims about civil and criminal matters, as well as court escort services. The center administers programs to assist child witnesses in developing skills and strategies to cope with domestic violence. It also offers individual and family therapy sessions to parents and assists in rebuilding parent and child relationships. In association with YWCA, the center organizes The Family Violence Collaborative program that assists law enforcement, criminal justice, child protection and health care professionals to develop policies to cope with domestic violence.
