The Portuguese Club of Naugatuck, or the Clube União Portuguesa, opened its doors in 1936 and has been growing since. The club holds several well-attended events in the community each year, appealing not only to the Portuguese population, but all residents of Naugatuck and its surrounding towns.

The Day of Portugal festival in June features food, music and other entertainment and the popular Sao Paio festival in September celebrates Portuguese culture and heritage.

In 2005, the club was expanded with a new addition and each year hosts many meetings, fund raisers, social events and weddings.

Each year, the club grants a scholarship in memory of deceased members to a child or dependent of a club member. Applications are accepted until April 1.
