Located on Washington Park in Newton, the New Art Center is a non-profit community space that opened 33 years ago. The Center offers a range of art education programs, features regularly scheduled exhibits of local artists and student works, hosts art-focused lectures and special events and offers space rentals for private functions. Newton Sewing Studio offers sewing classes for those interested in fashion and design. Headed by duo Brian and Sophie, classes are provided for kids, adults and families. Sewing parties also are available Saturdays by appointment.
The Paint Bar is a family-owned and run social painting studio. Mother and daughter Jill and Jackie Schon created a center where friends and neighbors can gather and cultivate their talents. The Paint Bar follows the precept that everyone has an inherent artistic talent. The Schons simply provide a nurturing and inviting environment for customers. This studio offers art workshops in a casual setting, where attendants learn to paint and be convivial. This studio is avaiable for private sessions and kids' parties.
