Pet Helpers was founded in 1976 by President Carol Linville after she read that 8, 000 pets were being euthanized each year at local shelters. It began as a weekly "adopt a pet" column. Thirty years later, that column has grown into Pet Helpers Rescue and Adoption Shelter, one of the foremost pet rescue organizations in South Carolina. Pet Helpers has slowly evolved into a widely recognized, innovative shelter that offers caring solutions to the serious problems created by pet overpopulation. For 30 years, we have focused on the needs of homeless animals. Through a commitment to quality sheltering and required spay and neuter, we have worked tirelessly to save those animals who are without human guardianship. We service the tri-county areas of Berkeley, Dorchester and Charleston Counties, and we are the only independent adoption shelter of our kind that is fully staffed and maintains regular business hours. We answer 20, 000 calls a year to provide assistance and information to the public concerning animal issues. We are able to accomplish so much thanks to the support of the community. We appreciate all of your support as we continue to grow.

To provide animal regulation and care services which protect the health, public safety and welfare of people and animals in Milwaukee County. MADACC currently rescues and assures safe, temporary shelter, veterinary and humane care for nearly 13, 000 stray, unwanted, abandoned, mistreated and injured animals each year more than any other animal control shelter in Wisconsin. MADACC provides a central location for owners to find and recover their lost pets at 3839 W. Burnham St. in West Milwaukee and is open seven days a week, including evening hours on weekdays. MADACC rescues strays and removes dangerous animals from public areas providing effective animal control services by active enforcement of Wisconsin State Statues pertaining to animal welfare. MADACC is an organization charged with the responsibility of rescuing thousands of lost and homeless animals and animals suffering from cruelty, neglect and indifference. Animal Care and Control facilities are often referred to derogatorily as the pound. They are often one of the most misunderstood organizations in any community. Although their mission is to save lives, their communitys irresponsible pet ownership requires them to euthanize animals, and then they are faulted for doing so. These organizations dont have the luxury of shrinking from the life and death issues of animal welfare. They are the only animal welfare agency in any community that has to address the issue of pet euthanasia head on every minute of every day.
