Denali National Park and Preserve was established in 1917 as Mount McKinley National Park. It features one of North Americas highest mountains, the 20,320-foot tall Mount McKinley. The park s Alaska Range also includes several other mountains and large glaciers. Its more than 6-million-acre land also encompasses a subarctic ecosystem with large mammals, such as grizzly bears, wolves, Dall sheep and moose. The park involves visitors in wildlife viewing, mountaineering and backpacking. It additionally provides a laboratory for research in natural sciences. The park provides a junior ranger program for young people. It offers several activities, such as hiking, cycling, camping, fishing, kennel visits and photography. Denali National Park and Preserve is located in Denali Park, Alaska, and is a part of National Park Service, which is a network of more than 400 natural, cultural and recreational sites throughout the United States. It is a bureau within the Department of the Interior.
