Workout Place focuses on training children and women self-defense and martial arts. The director, Arnold van Deuren is a black belt and has a Ph.D. in education, so he understands the needs of children. Services offered include a full range of tae kwon do instruction for preschoolers to teenagers and adult black belts. Also offered are evening self-defense classes for women and children's birthday parties.
Woolly Mammoth Child Care is a preschool in Berkeley. It accepts children from one month old to five years. The center focuses on fun, play-based learning methods. Its goal is to provide a safe and fun environment where children can learn and build the skills needed to take that next step into elementary school.
The West Center Congregational Church has been located on Pondfield Road W for 47 years. In 1962, the prominent glass windows, designed by Willet Studios in Philadelphia, were installed.
In addition to worship celebration, the church has a Christian Education program for children on Sundays, as well as choir and adult classes. Various events are held throughout the year, such as concerts and Spring Boutique.
