Established in 1965, Bucks County Opportunity Council assists low-income families. Financed by a grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the Department of Community and Economic Development, BCOC offers a wide variety of services, such as economic and family self-sufficiency, food assistance, adopt-a-family and weatherization services. The council also offers emergency services, including housing and utility assistance programs. Sponsored by the Bucks County Housing Authority, its family-sufficiency is an action-oriented, five-year plan, offering assistance with job retention and advancement, qualified financial assistance and graduation, and Family Achievement Award. The councils food program is funded by private donors, State Food Purchase Program and Community Services Block Grant. Bucks County Opportunity Council has branch offices in Doylestown, Quakertown and Bristol, Pa.
