The Walker County Department of Public Health administers a variety of health programs. It is a 265-plus-bed facility that is comprised of more than 55 physicians and 90 consulting staff members who provide a range of health care services. The department conducts programs, such as immunization, dental and maternity clinics, general health care, family planning and counseling, and venereal disease prevention and control. The Walker County Department of Public Health is also responsible for the certification, registration and statistical analysis of environmental and health standards. It serves the residents of Walker County in Alabama. The department is a volunteer, nonprofit agency that handles mental health issues.
