ZD Wines goes the extra mile to preserve the global environment through its local practices. It employees 712 solar panels for powering up its production line. And on that note, Robert employees a staff equally aligned with his green practices who drive environmentally-friendly vehicles. Robert recently joined the electric revolution with a new car, which derives solar-generated electricity, as well.
The winery's signature varietal, Carneros Pinot Noir, celebrates its 5th decade in 2009. Its bouquet of black cherry, rhubarb, clove and spice and its dark ruby color make it a complex wine, which is matured in french oak barrels for 10 months. ZD Wines was established in 1969 and the family continues to carry a hands-on approach to winemaking. Its tenure in the winemaking business has garnered ZD Wines many awards as well as the preferred wine for table settings at the White House for several administrations. ZD was named Winery of the Year by Wine & Spirits in 1997.
Barterra Winery is a small business with big and bold flavor. Its tasting room offers an intimate and classy setting to enjoy a sip of your favorite wine. And the store offers private parties and events for up to 15 people, either in the courtyard or at your home. Wines here come from California vineyards, like Alexander Valley, Napa, Sonoma Valley, Amador County and Russian River. Barterra also sells delcious olive oils with fresh and unique flavors like orange, garlic, lemon, basil, jalepeno, rosemary and manzanilla.
They make their own wines but don't have a vineyard. Locally bought grapes are made into wines in San Diego. The tasting room in La Mesa brings the wine country into the city.

Signorello Estate is a Napa based winery featuring over 50 acres of land growing a variety of grapes and producing fine wines for over 25 years. The wines produced at Signorello Estate include chardonnay, pinot noir, syrah, cabernet franc and the Estate's speciality, cabernet savignon. Half a mile south of Healdsburg on Old Redwood Highway is Limerick Lane, where you'll find the winery of the same name toward the end of the road. Limerick Lane Cellars is marked by a small parking lot in front of a modest white house, where the recently remodeled tasting room looks out on Collins Vineyard. The winery is noted for the zinfandel that grows here -- 90% of Limerick Lane's production is zin -- full of the berry and spice flavors characteristic of the region.
Owner Michael Collins purchased the run-down property in 1978, and, at first, just sold what grapes he could to others. He decided to produce and bottle wine himself about a decade later, and by 1993 was producing the first estate wines at Limerick Lane. The winery also produces releases of syrah, pinot noir and a rose of grenache. A small amount of the Hungarian grape Furmint is also produced for a dry white and a late harvest dessert wine, though these are not always available.
