The Dix Hills Water District is a public water supply district responsible for delivering drinking water to approximately 8,500 homes and businesses in the Dix Hills section of the Town of Huntington. The district is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the water supply infrastructure, including 17 supply wells, three water storage tanks, 167 miles of water main and almost 1,300 fire hydrants.

The district also handles emergencies such as water main breaks and is proud to report that its water meets or exceeds all federal and state drinking water standards.

The water district offers you this tip: "Do you want to save significant money during these tough financial times? The Dix Hills Water District has a suggestion for you. A 16-ounce bottle of water at the local store -- $1.50; a 16-ounce bottle of water at the local supermarket -- $1.00; a 16-ounce bottle of water from a warehouse store (by the case) -- 30 cents; a 16-ounce glass of water from your tap -- less than 1/10 of 1 cent! Yes -- you could refill your 16-ounce bottle 12,000 times, or eight times a day, every day, for five years for the same cost as one bottle from the local store. So refill that bottle with Dix Hills water."
