Headquartered in Fairbanks, Ark., Golden Heart Utilities serves as the regional treatment plant for the Greater Fairbanks area. The plant treats water to provide distilled water to the community and produces more than 1.3 billion gallons of water annually. It offers services to remove iron and manganese that affects taste and causes mild discoloration and staining in water. The chemicals used to treat the water are sodium hypochlorite, ferric sulfate, lime and a polymer. It also specializes in providing water distribution system comprises a series of water mains, pump and circulation stations, fire protection apparatus, such as fire hydrants and valves to control flow of the water. It operates through State of Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation-certified work force. The Golden Heart Utilities wastewater collection system includes a series of manholes and wastewater mains feeding into wastewater lift stations located throughout the system. It additionally offers wastewater treatment plant that operates under a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit.
