Our History

Circle Veterinary Clinic was begun in 1983 by Dr. John L. Wilkins, a long-time Wilmington veterinarian. His son, David Wilkins, joined him in the practice in 1986. Upon John Wilkins’ retirement, David began managing the clinic in late 1987. The hospital moved to its present location at 1212 E. Newport Pike in August 2009. The other Veterinarians in the practice are Dr. Chaney Daum, Dr. Allison Newth, who performs acupuncture and sees exotic pets, Dr. Gretchen Fanconi-Shifflett, and Dr. Lauren Jones.

We have a veterinarian and personnel on duty 6 days a week who are trained and equipped to handle any urgent care your pet has. Usually an emergency team consists of at least one veterinarian and several technicians working together to save a pets life. Emergencies can be things such as snail bait poisoning, hit by car, and chocolate ingestion. If you ever feel that your pet needs emergency treatment do not hesitate to call or come in immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so that a team member can advise you on your particular emergency.We are also available for urgent care when the condition is not life-threatening. If you feel your pet needs to be seen before you are able to get an appointment, our veterinarians will work to "squeeze" you in between scheduled appointments. When you arrive, our receptionists will be able to give you an estimate on how long you may have to wait in order to be seen.Types of Pets Seen Because a large number of veterinarians practice at House Call Pet Doctor, we can care for many types of pets: Dogs Cats Rabbits*Pocket Pets*Reptiles*Birds*Small Farm Animals*House Call Pet Doctor offers discounted services to senior citizens and local area rescue groups. avannah Animal Hospital was founded October 18, 1988 by Dr. Robert Pedigo Dr. Andrea Richter. The original facility was actually the home of a River Boat Pilot. Initial renovations converted the building into apartment and the animal hospital. The apartment was modified for office space in 1992. Major renovations in 1993 and in 2000 brought the hospital to its current status, including the separate Savannah Animal Hotel. The Hotel is a complete indoor boarding facility with a pet boutique. The boutique offers supplies as well as gift items for cat and dog fanciers.Changes externally brought growth internally with enhanced services and advancement of technology. There are approximately 43 staff members throughout the facilities serving people through their pets. We are committed to providing the most advanced veterinary diagnostics and treatment in an environment of care and compassion. We place a premium on individual care for each patient.Through communication and working together with you, the pet owner, we strive to give your pet a happy and healthy environment. Pets are an important part of our families, and we want the highest quality of life for them.Our dedication has generated a loyal, educated clientele who clearly appreciate our services. Likewise, we appreciate our clients. It is our hope that the future of the hospital engenders the same respect for its effort to provide the quality of veterinary care.
