Located at the intersection of Routes 90 and 1 in Rockport, Cellardoor Winery at the Villa is our second tasting room and gift shop. We invite guests to visit here for an in-town Winery experience. The Villa, known as “the yellow house” to locals, has a unique character with its historic Victorian architecture, elements salvaged from a once-grand home on the Bowdoin College campus in Brunswick, glass conservatory, and ornate decor. As the Winery’s barn has a calming aura about it, the Villa energizes the senses. We offer guests complimentary wine tastings daily, food and wine pairings every Friday from 3 to 6 p.m., and special samplings throughout the season. It’s our pleasure to feature local chefs as well as artisanal foods, chocolates, and cheeses from Maine and beyond. We are a family owned and operated stable for over 35 years with three generations lending a hand, as well as some great volunteers. We offer guided one or two hour trail rides through the scenic Maine woods. Picnic rides and "Special Occasion" rides are also available. Our trails cover grassy fields, wooded trails, and streams. Old stone walls line the trails as you ride through the abandoned settlement that was once known as New Scotland. While there is very little left of the actual settlement as you follow the old stagecoach road you will see old foundation(s) and stone walls that once outlined the fields and now meander through the forest. We can accommodate groups up to 12. Our horses come in all shapes and sizes to accommodate any size rider. They are well trained trail horses that will take you on a quiet, relaxing ride through the Maine woods. There is now weight limit. No experience is necessary. Ages 4 and up. Pony Rides available for younger guests. Open 7 days a week.

What is it that’s so special about handmade pottery? Simple clay shaped by potters’ hands into a dazzling array of beautiful and useful objects is what you’ll find at our gallery. From 28 studios located in various parts of Maine, each potter brings us work in her/his style. The potter chooses a specific kind of clay to work with, the clay determines what temperature is needed to correctly fire the pottery in the kiln. The potters who have been invited to be part of Mainely Pottery are skilled at their craft. Some of the best pottery you’ll see combines craftsmanship and some risk. For example, layering glazes over each other can create beautiful effects; wood-fired pottery usually has unpredicted toasty colors due to the path of the flames. Raku is another style of pottery which combines skill and risk, creating unusual lusters. Besides fine craftsmanship, you’ll find several potters who embellish their work with designs to remind you of Maine.
