In 1928, Billy Lee and Bessie Benefield Howard bought the Millington Telephone Company (MTC) for its indebtedness of $2,107.04 from a busted stock company. The company then consisted of 40 telephones with orders to take out 20. The sparse outside plant was tacked up on fence posts and only eight-hour daytime service was offered. Millington Telephone offers a line of communications services and products including local service, long distance, Internet access, web hosting and telephone equipment. Millington s focus is to help both business and residential customers throughout western Tennessee communicate more effectively. Millington Telephone Company is headquartered in Millington, Tenn.
