The Mississippi Department of Transportation District 6 Headquarters is responsible for coordinating, planning, design, construction and maintenance of the intermodal transportation network within the following 14 Mississippi counties: Jasper, Clarke, Jones, Wayne, Lamar, Forrest, Perry, Greene, Pearl River, Stone, George, Hancock, Harrison and Jackson. Located in Hattiesburg, Miss., it is one of seven district offices. Other district offices are located in Tupelo, Batesville, Yazoo City, Newton and McComb, Miss. The District 6 Headquarters, operated by a district engineer, reports to the Mississippi Office of Highway s deputy executive director chief engineer.
