The Wilmont Farms are adjacent to the Rancho Sierra Vista Equestrian Center. It is a horse breeding and boarding farm with bays for more than 400 horses. It has a team of trainers that assists clients with training of their animals. Many of the clients show in racing and equestrian competitions in Southern California and the United States. There are trails, jumping courses and paths for the horses to train and exercise. Mary's Tack and Feed, a popular horse supply shop in Del Mar, has a smaller satellite shop in this compound. The farm is close to downtown San Juan Capistrano and Interstate 5.
This is the office for The United Futbol Club (UFC), a non-profit club that promotes soccer to the youth of San Juan Capistrano and the entire Southern California region. The club has organized teams, arranged by age group. It is competitive and co-ed: local teams compete for prizes and titles. Additionally, instruction is provided at this premier facility, with established, reputable coaches who have become role models for ambitious, young soccer players. UFC's Board of Directors works to ensure the long-lasting presence of soccer for the youth of the area. Local games are held at the nearby San Juan Capistrano Sports Park next to the Community Centre.
The J. F. Shea Therapeutic Riding Center is one of the largest and most respected accredited therapeutic riding programs in the country. The Center is located at the north end of San Juan Capistrano on Oso Road. It offers therapeutic riding classes for riders with physical and neurological disabilities such as autism, cerebral palsy, and developmental delay. Riding and doing activities on the horse (called hippotherapy) improves the rider’s strength, balance and coordination.
The Shea Center staff includes licensed physical, occupational, and speech therapists. The certified therapeutic riding instructor team is composed of seasoned equestrians specifically trained to work with special needs clients. Extensive training is offered to help volunteers become familiar with horses as well as people with special needs.
The Sycamore Trails Stable has been owned and operated by the Hanson family for over25 years. This area of southern California is known for its love of horses and all things equestrian. Many of the Olympic gold winners for Team USA come from this area. The Sycamore Trails is a place for you to board your four-legged friend and a place to ride. It has trails in this beautiful valley location that's not far from the town center. There are also riding/jumping courses on the property. Sycamore also offers lessons for riders of all levels: beginners, advanced and professional. There is a small tack shop on premises for supplies and gear.
This popular women's work-out center is located in the Ortega Village shopping center complex. Curves is the largest fitness franchise in the world, with over 10,000 locations in more 70 countries. It is the first fitness and weight-loss facility designed specifically for women, offering members affordable supervised exercise programs and nutritional information. Members work with personal coaches who monitor and advise these programs.
The City of San Juan Capistrano is located in the heart of the equestrian community. Tar Farms is a privately owned family farm that rents stables to horse owners. Some of the horses boarded here are used for casual recreation; others may be prize winners that compete nationally.
Tar Farms is situated on one of the main trails of the city's interlinking horse-trail system. In addition to boarding, Tar Farms offers western reining, working cows, hunter/jumper and dressage regimes. Its instructors teach classes and periodically host free or low-cost seminars and clinics to those who board their animals at the stables. The farm has several rings and jumps for horses to train.
The Baseball Performance Academy is located in the Calle Perfecto Business Park. It is a center for amateur and professional baseball players to come train, workout and improve their games. It caters to all age groups and it is a unisex facility.
There are different levels of training. A basic monthly fee allows you into the workout pens and onto the pitching mounds. There is also an upstairs gym where athletes may work on strength and body development. The pro shop features the Rawlings brand of baseball athletic gear such as bats, gloves, balls and attire.
This is the local outpost for the National Boys and Girls Club of America. It has been located at this structure since opening in 1994 and is adjacent to the town's Community Center, the Community Sports Field and the adjacent Community Gardens.
The Club is a program for school-age youth grades 1-12. Through mentoring, it shows youth how to develop a positive attitude towards self, family and community. It sponsors different educational seminars and events and also fundraisers that show how to complete a project from start to finish and reach a goal. The activities include sports events, music education and counselingThis is not a religious organization. There is an annual membership fee that is either paid by the individual or the community.
Dana Smith Show Team provides training and lessons for horses and horse owners. The facility includes a riding area, grooming facility and more. Its staff is not only professional, but everything is fairly priced. Longtime and new horse owners are welcome. Parking is located near the horse stalls.
The Marbella Golf and Country Club is located within the exclusive and private gated community of Marbella Estates. The 18-hole course was designed by pros Jay Morrish and Tom Weskopf. The Club is nestled in the landscaped rolling hills of this area with man-made lakes and waterfalls. The facility is also a premier destination for weddings and private events. The club is accessible to members and their guests only.
The Black Belt Tae Kwon Do Academy is located in the El Adobe Plaza. Master Rafael Sanchez is the owner and chief instructor who has close to two decades of experience in the martial arts. He moved to this area in 2005 and developed the Academy.
Sanchez works with children to develop the respect and discipline the martial arts require. The Academy is host to popular birthday celebrations and other special events. There are adult and family classes and Sanchez invites interested parties to come for a free trial workout.
This shopping center is filled with stores that cater to the Spanish-speaking population of San Juan Capistrano. Classes are conducted in both Spanish and English.
The Ortega Equestrian Center is located in the center of town, yet it has the feel of being out in the countryside. OEC hosts the boarding of horses and western training for riders. Classes are clustered by ability from beginner to advanced. The center hosts riding competitions and sponsors riders for other horse shows in the Southern California area. There is also a small tack shop on the premise. The center has different jumping courses and long distant trails for longer rides.
The Redline Athletic Center is located in the Calle Perfecto Business Park. It is operated by Lyndsey Simmons, a former player for the New York Mets and Erik Korop, a strength and conditioning coach also with the Mets. Korop is certified with the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Since the gym is housed in the baseball arena, the focus for the workout sessions tend to be geared for baseball players, but other athletes are welcome to join and participate. There is also an area to use body weights and machines in addition to the ball pens. The training sessions are designed to make you feel what its like to train as the professional players do.
The Rancho Sierra Vista Equestrian Center is located in one of the most pristine valleys in the San Juan Capistrano area. It is also conveniently located not far from the downtown area and Interstate 5. It is a clean and safe equestrian environment and home to more than 1000 horses that train and are housed here. It recently celebrated its 30-year anniversary.
Owned and operated by local resident Patty Harris, the center also is home to a satellite shop for Mary's Tack and Feed, a popular horse supply store located in Del Mar.
The center has training courses and jumping trails for horses and their riders.
