Conveniently located near the corner of Placentia and 18th Street in Costa Mesa ( in the old Wave Tools factory ), PureGlass has grown from its start as a surfboard manufacturing shop into the complete solution for all the shapers needs. PureGlass offers high quality polyester and epoxy glassing, production shaping, in-house shaping bays, board pick-up and delivery, and a large selection of surfboard materials including blanks, production fins, boxes and plugs, pads, leashes, bags, after-market fins, leash plugs, sandpaper, resin, fiberglass, and many other products. The surfboard factory has been at that location for over 30 years. Originally owned by Lance Collins and his Wave Tools brand, Jim Chalupnik and Bill Scharing purchased the glassing business from Lance in October of 2005 to focus on all shapers and surfers in the area. The intent was to build a long-term and professional glass shop focused on delivering high quality, consistent glasswork to shapers in Southern California. The goal was to partner with shapers and provide a complete solution based on the specific needs of each shaper. After expanding into the adjoining suite, PureGlass has been able to extend its offerings by building a wholesale site that sells surfboard materials. The glass shop has benefited from Jims experience in production glassing for over 15 years. He has been able to pull together an incredible group of highly-skilled craftsmen who take great pride in helping produce handcrafted surfboards for shapers and surfers in the area. Housed at the same location are a number of shapers including Dano, Cordell, JC Hawaii, McKinnon, Rickland, Giddings G-Force, Rich Wisz, Lance Collins, and others who take advantage of the available shaping bays in the factory. Lance Collins and his Wave Tools brand is still at the location. Surfers looking to order a custom surfboard can come directly to PureGlass and talk with their favorite shaper. The public is welcome.
