Opening its doors on Little Neck's Northern Boulevard in 1962, Akido of Queens claims to be the first martial arts school in North America to teach Nihon Goshin Aikido. The school was founded by Richard Bowe, the only non-Japanese to receive a black belt from Nihon Goshin Aikido creator Shodo Morita. The school offers classes for adults, teens, adolescents and children. Private classes are available upon request. Discounts are available for those employed in corrections, police and fire departments.
