Westview Elementary School is one of four elementary schools in Avon Lake with students from kindergarten through fourth grade.

Westview graduates move to Troy Intermediate School and then Learwood Middle School before attending Avon Lake High School. This is one of several schools that had major renovations and expansions in 2010. Westview is also the home of the city's Safety Town, which teaches young children rules of the road and safety. 

Paul Holland is the principal of Westview. Each year, students hold a reading contest with the winners earning the right to throw a pie at the principal. 

In 2010, Westview was one of several Avon Lake Schools involved in a district-wide expansion program, including expansion of the cafeteria, the addition of two new classroom and updates to the entrance area as well as a new traffic circle.

Eastview Elementary School is one of four elementary schools in Avon Lake welcoming students from kindergarten through fourth grade. Graduates move to Troy Intermediate School and then to Learwood Middle School before attending Avon Lake High School.  The school puts an emphasis on academics and community service and in 2010 was ranked No. 13 of all schools in Ohio by the State Board of Education's Performance Index. The school maintains an active PTA that meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 9:15am in the school cafeteria. Principal Mike Matthews believes civic mindedness is an important part of its informal curriculum. Students support the USO drive and recently sent over 50 care packages to Afghanistan. Students also spend a weekend each year cleaning up the ALPS playground. The school was one of several that had major renovations and expansions in 2010. Its mascot is Pepper Penguin.

Erieview Elementary School serves students in kindergarten and grade four. The school offers classes in English, math, science, social studies and language arts. Avon Lake High School is part of the award-winning school system that serves the city.

The school, which sits on an impressive campus with access from both Avon Belden Road and Electric Boulevard, earned U.S. News and World Report's Silver Award for the years 2006-2009 and in Newsweek's Top 1,500 U.S. High Schools in 2009 and 2010. The school consistently is rated "excellent" by the Ohio Board of Education.

Avon Lake High School boasts success in the academic, athletic, service and music arenas. Approximately 90 percent of graduating seniors move on to two- or four-year colleges.

AP classes are offered in math, science, English, social studies, French, Spanish, music theory and studio art.

The high school enjoys one of the best music programs in the country, which includes their award-winning Chorale, Symphonic Band, Marching Shoremen, and a renowned 16-member a cappella ensemble called the Merples.

The high school maintains a strong athletic program. The football team has won more than 20 conference championships. The 1994 girls basketball team, 1986 and 1988 girls cross country teams and the 2003 football team have won Ohio state championships. Students are regularly recruited to Div. I and Div. III college athletic programs.

In the early to mid-2000s, the high school underwent a major expansion, including the addition of a state-of-the-art performing arts center that regularly hosts community events, including Cleveland Pops concerts. In 2010, Memorial Stadium received major upgrades including additional seating, new turf, restrooms, locker rooms and track.

Dr. Joanie Walker is the school principal.  Jim Beatty and T. J. Ebert serve as assistant principals.

This pre-school is affiliated with the Avon Lake Presbyterian Church on Electric Boulevard. Cornerstone is ALPC's non-profit mission that strives to offer a pre-school to the church's community as well as others in Avon Lake.

While communication and listening skills are encouraged, the school also encourages its students to have a positive attitude about themselves and others while preparing for elementary school. Classes are offered for three- and four-year-old children.

Jack n Jill Nursery School has helped thousands of children embark on their education. This school is under the direction of the Avon Lake United Church of Christ. The school aims to help in cognitive, emotional, physical and social development in children ages 3 - 5.

Started in 1969, this is now the largest pre-school in Avon Lake and can accept 92 children in each of the school's sessions.

Learwood Middle School enrolls students in seventh and eighth grades. In 2008, the school was named a "No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School." 

Learwood boasts a healthy music, academic and sports curriculum, with most students moving on to Avon Lake High School. The school is very involved in the community, and students take an active part in volunteering at various venues in the city.

The school maintains a sizable campus on Lear Road that includes several soccer fields that are used for tournaments. Learwood's principal is Jane Ramsay. Brad Cocco is the assistant principal.

One of the largest Catholic schools in the area, St. Joseph School expanded in the late 1990s to accommodate the demand for an increased number of students.

The school's mission statement says it "models itself on the mission of Jesus Christ, striving to form compassionate young people who excel as Catholic Christians." The school focuses on spirituality, academics and extra-curricular activities to "create disciples who are the hands, voice and heart of Christ."

The school maintains smaller classrooms, with an average class size of 22 students. More than 80 percent of the school's junior high students participate in an accelerated math program and the school's Power of the Pen team regularly wins accolades at the local, regional and state levels of the competition.

In addition to its focus on religion, the school is known for solid academic achievement. St. Joseph School is wireless and each class has an ActivBoard.
