Richard Butler School is a middle school serving grades five through eight. The average school day is six hours and 48 minutes long, with five hours and 48 minutes of instructional time. Students in the 5th grade remain in homeroom for the majority of their academic instruction. Students in 7th and 8th grades are grouped together for mathematics instruction.
Growing Place Nursery School offers an educational program for children ages 2 to 5. The school provides a rich environment for children to learn through active and child-initiated play and uses a curriculum from local kindergarten programs.
Founded originally as a four-room schoolhouse for fewer than 75 students, the Richard E. Byrd Elementary School expanded in the 1930s and never looked back. Rear Admiral Richard Evelyn Byrd was a U.S. Naval officer and Medal of Honor recipient who claimed that his expeditions had been the first to reach the North and South Pole by air. The school is located on Doremus Avenue near Rock Road.
