Charlesmont Elementary School serves students from pre-K through fifth grade and includes two special education programs. The school qualifies as a Title I institution and offers numerous services for students, such as assistance from reading experts, speech and language pathologists, occupational and physical therapists and other support personnel. The school also has an annual science fair.
St. Rita's Church, a member of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, was established in 1922. St. Rita's convent is located next door. The parish staff is led by Deacon John Langmead, pastoral life director, and Deacon George Evans, a permanent deacon. Michelle Ruse serves as parish secretary. The church programs include outreach to the homeless and hungry. St. Rita's hosts bingo every Tuesday and Saturday night.
A community-oriented school in the center of historic Dundalk, students take part in programs with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Kempo Karate, the Police Athletic League and Walmart. The media center holds nearly 11,ooo volumes of material and there is one computer in the school for every 4.2 students. The curriculum includes instrumental and voice music, art and physical education. The front door of the school opens to Dundalk Heritage Park, and the school's own property boasts a large playground, soccer and baseball fields and a large swatch of green open space.
Norwood Elementary is a diverse school with 50 students enrolled in the English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program. Norwood offers instruction in music and movement, has an art club and Green School activities. Students in grades 1 through 5 are trained in conflict resolution and social skills and serve as peer mediators, helping to deal with student problems.
Sollers Point Technical High School is a Baltimore County Regional Magnet School, and its history dates back to 1948. The school accepts students from Chesapeake, Dundalk, Kenwood, Overlea, Patapsco and Sparrows Point High Schools. It offers instruction in 13 technical programs.
