Located in Spencerport, N.Y., Monroe Board of Cooperative Educational Services has been operational for more than 50 years. A full-service educational institution, Monroe BOCES serves various public and private schools, area colleges, community agencies and other local partners. The institute functions as an extension of the local school districts and the New York State Education Department, and serves more than 40,000 students in grades kindergarten through 12. Ulster County BOCES or Boards of Cooperative Educational Services, based in New Paltz, N.Y., is a public education collaborative that functions as an extension of local school districts. A BOCES provides services that school districts find too small to offer on their own or would be more economical to offer collaboratively and share costs with other districts. The function of a BOCES is to provide shared services to the component school districts in a manner that is effective and fosters equity for students. It helps school districts save money by pooling their resources and sharing costs. The Cassadaga Job Corps Academy is a career training program for eligible youth in the age group of 16 to 24.
