Other options are salads, coal-oven sandwiches and Italian soul food, such as meatballs with ricotta cheese and pork ribs with vinegar peppers.
In Darien since 1986, this family-owned restaurant features an indoor dining room with large windows as well as an outdoor seating area adorned with flowers.
Friendly's has been open in its current location for more than 20 years, said manager Tara Bholanath. Though it's a family restaurant serving staples like hamburgers and chicken tenders, there's one thing that seems to draw people in more than any other, said Bholanath. "People say, 'We came for the ice cream.'"
