Edmonds Woodway High School formed in 1990 when two high schools merged. The school offers 16 different sports teams, 25 clubs and student government. Edmonds Woodway is also known for its architecture and drafting classes and tech prep program, which allows students to earn college credit while attending high school. Edmonds Woodway's block schedule means students attend three 100-minute classes each day. The school mascot is the warrior.
Westgate Elementary School, a public primary school, prides itself on teaching students how to become active learners and thoughtful readers and writers. The school serves students from Kindergarten through 6th grade. Westgate offers highly capable and gifted programs. The school is located in the southwest part of the Edmonds Schoool District.
Chase Lake Community School emphasizes small classes and an intimate sense of community. The school has worked over the past few years to develop character education, enabling students to become better individuals and group members. Seaview is a public neighborhood elementary school drawing students from the central west side of the Edmonds School District. The school's goals emphasize literacy, math, and a positive school climate.
Sherwood Elementary encourages students to learn how to think critically, embrace technology, work cooperatively and learn through multiple intelligences. The school's parent organization allows families to become involved in Sherwood. Sherwood's marimba band plays at community gatherings.
Edmonds Montessori Pre-School is conveniently located off of Main Street in downtown Edmonds. The classrooms provide a warm and comfortable setting in which children can stretch their full potential. It also has prepared an environment that will allow freedom with social and academic growth.
Edmonds Elementary School prides itself on cutting-edge technology, extensive math instruction, large classroom libraries and character-building activities. Students engage in an hour and 20 minutes of math instruction daily and at least an hour of literacy each day as well. The school wants children, parents and teachers to feel part of a supportive community.
Scriber Lake High School is the only alternative school in Edmonds School District. Students must apply for and be accepted to attend. The school has just over 200 students and utilizes a hands-on, practical approach to learning. With classroom size numbering less than 20, students and teachers enjoy one-on-one interaction. The principal is Kathy Clift.
