The St. John Chrysostom Parish was formed as an offshoot of the St. Theresa of Avila Parish in West Roxbury in 1952. It is a very popular and active church known for its well-attended services. The parish offers CCD classes, baptisms, ministry to the sick and organizes food drops to those in need.

The Theodore Parker Church first gathered in 1712 and the church was built in 1900. Rev. Lilli Nye leads the Unitarian Universalist congregation. The church, which is at the corner of Corey and Centre Streets, is listed on the state register of historic places. A statue of Theodore Parker sits outside of the church, which causes many passersby to wonder about him. He was an American Transcendentalist who lived from 1810 - 1860.

The Emmanuel Episcopal Church is located at the corner of Stratford Street and Clement Avenue at Arthur R. Duffie Square.

Rev. Robert Edson currently leads the church, which has parishioners from mainly West Roxbury and Roslindale, as well as surrounding Boston communities.

The church's web site is very modern and offers an RSS feed for news and events.

The Stratford Street United Church has been in existence since 1904 and is currently led by Pastor Carol Steinbrecher. Its comprised of two affiliations - The American Baptist Church and The United Church of Christ. In addition to Sunday and holiday services, the church offers community and special events such as Bible studies and retreats. There are children's services and child-care available during services.

The World Missions Apostolic Church conducts services in Portuguese and is led by Pastor Altair Godinho. Golgotha, a Haitian-French speaking Seventh-Day Adventist Church, also holds services in the church.

Temple Hillel B'nai Torah is a Reconstructionist temple that has about 164 families from West Roxbury and surrounding communities in its congregation. The temple prides itself on being an open and accepting community with congregants of different races, sexual orientations and backgrounds. The temple has regular Shabbat services, as well as youth services. There are also classes for youth and adult education.

St. George Orthodox Church is tucked away in a residential neighborhood. The Church School has classes for students from preschool age to high school seniors. The Adult Fellowship program brings parishioners together to provide outreach to other ministries. There is also a monthly book club within the fellowship program. Archpriest Timothy Ferguson is the current pastor.

The Arabic Evangelical Baptist Church provides a "lighthouse" for Arab immigrants and visitors living in New England, according to the church, which is now trying to acquire a site for youth activities. The church practiced at several other sites before moving into this Spring Street location in July 2006. The Reverend Khaled Ghobrial is the current senior pastor. Sunday services are in Arabic, which is translated to English.

The Holy Name Parish is a very popular Catholic church in West Roxbury: it's common to see cars double-parked outside of the parish during services. The church sits in a rotary called the Holy Name Parish, with the Holy Name Parish School right across the road. In addition to their regular services of First Penance and First Communion and mass, this religious community also offers services for Latino residents and has a variety of activities and educational programs for individuals and families. Reverend George Carlson leads the parish. Mass is held daily and on the weekends: Saturday at 4pm and Sunday at 7, 9 and 11am.

St. Matthew's is on a residential street off the main strip of Centre Street. Divine Liturgy Sunday services are at 11 a.m.

The church runs a Sunday School, puts on a Christmas play and hosts a variety of activities, both religious and secular, such as Easter candle decorating and ping-pong tournaments.

The parish was formed in 1895 and is currently led by Reverend Monsignor William Manning Helmick.

The parish is a Roman Catholic congregation that is involved in the community through volunteer opportunities at local places like Faulkner Hospital and the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center.
