The Barnstable Superior Court hears civil and criminal trials. Located in the heart of Barnstable Village, the court's historic beauty is juxtaposition to its serious legal power: original jurisdiction in civil actions over $25,000 and first degree murder cases and for all other crimes.
Behind the court is the closed Barnstable County Jail as well as a small village of government offices including the Sheriff's office.
Situated near the junctions of routes 9 and 135, the Westborough District Court serves five towns in Worcester County: Grafton, Northborough, Shrewsbury, Southborough, and Westborough. Known to locals as Westborough District Court, the formal name is First District Court of Eastern Worcester Westborough Division. The building sits on a large, grassy lot and is identifiable by the three large flagpoles near the front door.
