High Mountain Road Elementary School serves Franklin Lakes students in grades K through 5, as well as the Bright Horizons pre-k program. Helen Attenello serves as principal. The school provides a welcoming and supportive environment that enhances the well-being of the children.
High Mountain Road Elementary School's curriculum is designed to encourage a lifelong journey of learning for the students. The Franklin Lakes curriculum includes art, computers, ESL, health, language arts, math, music, physical education, science, social studies, a gifted and talented program and more. Extracurricular activities include a drama club. The school provides a well-stocked library and has an active PTA.
First Step Preschool is licensed by the state of New Jersey and provides caring and enriching education to kids from two-and-a-half to five years old. The center is located in the Franklin Lakes Methodist Church, but not affiliated with the church. They offer morning and afternoon programs with small class sizes for individual attention to each student, and many of their early-childhood and Montessori-trained teachers have been with them since they opened 15 years ago. PM Kindergarten enrichment is also available.
Dedicated to going "green" and using safe and environmentally-friendly products in the classrooms, First Step Preschool provides a well-rounded curriculum. They also have a nut-free policy to protect children with allergies. The center gives back to the community with regular food and clothing drives.

The YMCA Child Day Care program, located at the Presbyterian Church of Franklin Lakes, is affiliated with the Wyckoff Family YMCA. The center provides a safe and nurturing environment for children to play, grow, and learn. They are open from 7:30am to 6:00pm, 51 weeks per year, and care for children from 3 months to 5 years of age.
Under the direction of Dotty Korwan, the program includes foreign language instruction, music, art, creative movement, and developmental gym classes. The center currently has 46 students and 12 staff members, several of whom are certified.
