Cebe Farms owner Joe Cebe developed his own breed of chickens that he delivers to live-poultry markets. While his Cebe Red chicks take 11 to 15 weeks to mature compared with four to six weeks for commercial chicks, people are willing to pay more for the more robust flavor. The farm in rural Ramona is not open to the public, and appointments are required for visitors.
