Our property was part of a 400+ acre farm. The house was a red oak log cabin it had 2 rooms and was 2 stories, built in the 1840s. A 60’ x 40’ banked hay barn was added in the 1890s. The farm had cattle, sheep, horses, chickens and pigs. In the early 1950s, a small and large animal veterinarian bought the property and lived in the house and built his office, operating room and recovery center. The veterinarian sold the property to a family that managed a dog kennel in Sewickley. They expanded the business and added buildings and wildlife. Peacocks and guinea hens were added residents. In the early 1960s, Interstate 79 was built and divided the farm. Red Mud Hollow Road was moved. We bought the 21 acre package in 1990 and renamed it “The Kennel” at Red Mud Hollow Farm. Prior to purchasing the property and business, we owned and operated a horse boarding, training, and riding facility in Bucks County, Pa. "The Olde Crossing Farm." We learned the importance of providing quality services to our customers and guests. Our reputation for providing boarding, grooming exercise, and day care service with individual attention is part of our foundation. Our solid reputation for catering to the needs of individual guests is in our DNA. We are small enough to know your pets name and please forgive us if we forget yours … until you mention theirs! We have been in business for five years, and we have resided in this little piece of paradise for the past 20 years or so. Through those years weve shared our lives with many different animals, including various breeds of dogs. Today our family includes a large pack of Great Pyrenees. (You can see them in the gallery under family.) We are also blessed to spend temporary time with many different species and breeds, with various personalities and antics! For many years we talked of building a business here, so we could be here in this beautiful place more often. Thanks to our love of animals and my very intelligent and talented husband we were able to design and build this pet resort. Nearly everything here is custom designed, right down to the doors that our son welded for us. We wanted to have a bright and pleasant atmosphere for all and I believe we did accomplish that. You will just have to come and see for yourself. We put our heart and soul into this place and intend to continue doing just that. Thanks to those of you that put up with our construction phases and stuck in there through our many changes. What we really want to accomplish is to keep your pets happy and occupied while you are away. Pets have 2 fenced acres to run and play in, four times a day. We provide lots of attention and special packages, which really make a difference for your pets.
