Founded in 1995, MYB is a non-profit ballet company committed to giving youth the opportunity to realize their potential by being part of full-length ballet productions. The organization offers the chance to perform in major productions for dancers from seven to eighteen. The group also reaches out to Melrose's surrounding communities with a special school and senior citizen performance each year as well as four other performances open to the public.
Owned and operated by professional dance instructor Cheryl Slauenwhite, Cheryl's School of Dance teaches individuals from four years old to adulthood. Courses include Ballet, Jazz, Pointe and Hip Hop. There are opportunities to compete professionally and recitals are also performed through Cheryl's School of Dance. Located at the Green Street Baptist Church, Center Stage Dance Studio has been providing dance lessons for young girls of Melrose of all skill levels for almost 15 years. It specializes in the instruction of different dance styles, including tap, ballet, hip hop, jazz, pointe and more. Center Stage Dance Studio has a professional and experienced staff and offers one-on-one lessons upon request.
