The Walker Nature Education Center is the jewel of Reston's 1,300 acres of open space and nature trails. The 72-acre site, which features the recently completed Nature House, is home to educational programs, outdoor displays, a campfire ring, gardens and meadows and, of course, all kinds of birds, frogs and other creatures.
The center seeks to be a place for all who enjoy nature to learn and experience. It is a popular place for birthday parties and scout events.
Fort Ward is a preserved system of Union batteries and forts originally built to protect Washington, D.C. during the Civil War. The site features a museum operated by the City of Alexandria that's dedicated to preserving the history of the site and features exhibits. Education programs, lectures, tours and living history activities are offered. The 45-acre site also includes a park with picnic areas that may be reserved. Admission is free and donations are welcome.
Donated by the Lebowitz Family, Clemyjontri Park is an 18 acre public park centered around a classic carousel. The park features a state-of-the-art playground designed to offer a safe and fun playing experience for children of all physical abilities.
