Riverbend Environmental Education Center's goal is to encourage teachers and parents to get students to appreciate and understand the environment through outdoor activities and programs.

The center reaches this goal by offering school programs, scout programs, camps, outreach programs, and nature clubs. Riverbend offers field trip opportunities to children in kindergarten up to 5th grade. Also, it offers summer camps in which kids are taught crafts, science experiments and are encouraged to explore nature. 

This Schuylkill River park sits at the boundary between Lower Merion's Gladwyne and Penn Valley sections. A boat ramp provides access to the river. Visitors can use the metal grills standing among the picnic tables. There's enough room to throw a ball or Frisbee around.
