This complex on the Iowa State University campus in Ames features 17 acres of indoor and outdoor spaces that reflect Iowa's changing seasons.

Parking and public transportation to Reiman Gardens
Take U.S. Highway 30 west from Interstate Highway 35. Turn north on to University Boulevard. Turn northwest on to South 16th Street and follow the signs. Free parking is available at the site except on home football dates. On those days, visitors are encouraged to use public transportation or look for one of the limited number of off-street and/or paid parking spots nearby. Given the complex's location on the ISU campus, local transit routes serve the site.

Best times to go to Reiman Gardens
Time your visit to one of the gardens' many annual events, such as the Rose Festival and other seasonal activities. There's also a number of creative classes in photography, floral design and more offered at Reiman Gardens. Weekday visits are best if you're looking to avoid the crowds.

Admission to Reiman Gardens
The site is open daily, with extended hours during the warmest months. They are closed only on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Expect to pay just under $10 for adults, and just under $5 for kids up to age 17. There's discounts for seniors and group rates available.

Must see/do at Reiman Gardens
With more than 20 themed areas, there's something for everyone. A glass-walled conservatory houses a wide range of tropical and exotic plants. Up to 800 butterflies call another building home, along with a variety of insects. A space devoted to vegetable gardening includes tips about sustainable practices and how to improve your garden at home. Keep an eye out for the artwork as well, as a number of sculptures dot the complex. Photos and videos are allowed, but for private use only.

Other places to visit near Reiman Gardens
Head about 40 minutes south to enjoy the displays at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden. Enjoy the natural areas at Jester Park and around the Saylorville Lake Visitor Center.
